Beth's Interests 


Form- Blog
Purpose- To inform and entertain by giving facts and adding lexis to give the audience an image of Bora Bora. Gives lots of information about Bora Bora and gives advice on how people should spend their time whilst abroad there. Also, includes how to get around the island and what way is best. Furthermore, it provides the mobile numbers of places to stay in order to guide the audience whilst they're abroad.
Audience- Potentially for travellers, Journalists, Couples and Families visiting abroad.

Food


Form- Magazine 
Purpose-Given instructions to guide people with making a certain dish. Includes pictures to show people how they may like to present the dish. Also, has lots of different categories for each type of food, month etc. This is helpful as the readers can find exactly what they're looking for. Bright colours to entertain people as well as teach them.
Audience- Cooks, Children, Mothers.

Music

Form- Review 
Purpose- To provide information about this certain band and how the writer reacts to their music. Songs are listed so that the reader of this review can listen to certain songs whilst being informed about how others feel towards the music and can therefore create their own opinion.
Audience-Teenagers.

Shopping

Form- Blog
Purpose- Showing others who love shopping what their personal favourite products are and what products they recommend to each other. Items such as; make up, clothing, homeware etc. Provides alternatives to people who may not want to spend much money.
Audience- Mothers, Teenagers. 

Art

Form- Newspaper
Purpose- Provides daily information for people who are interested in art. There are different categories so people can look for the type of art, date etc. Opinions are also presented so the reader can see how others react to the art and this helps them to create an opinion for themselves.
Audience- Artists, writers.




                                       
Lexis
Word-choice. Meaning at word and phrase level.

                                     
Grammar
How the language is built i.e. the structure and rules, which underpin how we form sentences.


Phonology                 
How we organise the sounds of our language to produce certain effects including rhythm, rhyme, intonation, stress, pauses etc.

                                  
Pragmatics
How we know what language means when it is used in a specific context, sometimes described as ‘reading between the lines’.


Discourse
(i)how longer stretches of text are organised (cohesion – how I holds together e.g. use of discourse markers).

(ii) the way texts creates identities for particular individuals, groups or institutions e.g. the discourse of law, politics , the media.

                                   
Graphology
How the design of a text can contribute to meaning including use of fonts, graphics, colour’s etc.
